About Division 3

Who We Are

Division 3 consists of nearly 220 members among five flotillas in the northern Chicago area. Members range in age from 18 to 98.

What We Do

Division 3 provides administrative, training, communication and supervisory support to the five flotillas under its control.

As a civilian, non-military component of the U.S. Coast Guard, Division 3 directly supports all of the Coast Guard's missions except military and law enforcement actions.

Division 3 does not directly provide boating education or vessel safety checks. Its affiliated flotillas provides these services.

Flotilla members actively provide safety patrols on Chicago area waterways and regularly meet with the boating public at marinas and in classrooms. They also assist the U.S. Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as search and rescue, and marine environmental protection.

In addition, flotilla members served side-by-side with active duty members of the U.S. Coast Guard, primarily at: Coast Guard Station Wilmette, Coast Guard MSU (Marine Safety Unit) Chicago and Coast Guard Station Kenosha.

When We Meet

Division 3 meets at 1930 (7:30 p.m.) on the second Thursday of every month (except December) at:

Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire Protection District
115 Schelter Rd.
Lincolnshire, IL   60069

The fire station is best reached from Rt. 22. Schelter is west of Barclay (which is west of Milwaukee Ave).  The station is just south of Rt 22 on the east side of Schelter.  Parking should be in the rear and not in front.  If the lot is full, there is remote parking across the street. The fire prevention district has graciously accommodated our request for the use of their training room for our meetings.  It will serve our needs very nicely and has all the features of a first class meeting room.

Since this is not a restaurant, please bring your own water, snacks, and any other 'creature comforts' you may require for the duration of the meeting.

In the spirit of camaraderie and the fourth cornerstone, any one interested in meeting for dinner before the meeting might consider 1800 hours at Walker Bros Original Pancake House, located just off N Milwaukee Ave about a block south of Half Day Rd.
